Whoot!

I got a freakin' bonus!  WHOOT!  They told us it would be in gift card form, but it arrived in my mailbox as a check.  The downside is that they took freakin' taxes out of it!  UGH!  My 200 bucks went down to 134!  <-- Crazy!

My boss came into my store today.  I mean why not right?  I was off of work all week due to jury duty!  Luckily, we are almost back on track.  My store did not look like the total disaster it was just a few days before.  I got a green!

I called about jury duty today, and I DON'T HAVE TO GO tomorrow!  Hot damn!

I bought my hubby a game for his birthday that is in October today because he really wanted it.  I told him I would get it for him now, since I got my bonus.  He traded in a couple of games too, so we got NHL 2011 for about 38 bucks.  The rest of the bonus is going straight into something for me.  I just don't know what yet.

The verdict of the trial was put on TV today.  Here is the link nosey ladies if you haven't seen/heard it yet.

Jury Duty-Day 3 will follow this, so if you are reading that it will follow shortly after this post is made.

Jury Duty-Day 2

I failed to mention in the previous post that rape of a child in Tennessee means any miniscule amount of anything (body part or foreign object) that goes into a girl's vagina is considered rape.  It can be .00000001 of an inch, and it is considered rape.

I also failed to mention that the little girl says that she did not tell anyone about it.

Day 2 consisted of a lot of in and out of the jury room too.  Day 2 was the day that the grandmother took the stand.  Her name was Cindy.  She was on the stand the WHOLE DAY!

They asked her many questions about her financial status.  When you go to court, they pull everything they can about you.  Bank statements included.  I know how much this woman makes, that she has two houses (one of which is in foreclosure because she cannot afford it with only one income),  she has a savings account that is separate from the joint account,   I know the the agreements in her prenup,  I know how much money he spent out of their joint account while out of town.

Here is her story

Her husband (the defendent) had been in Texas for a long while because he had been injured in a motorcycle accident.  While reviewing the bank statements, they show us how much money he spent while out in Texas.  His food purchases looked like enough for two people if you ask me (no one every brought this up).  She had injured her back at work, so she claims she hadn't seen her grandkids in a long time.  When he came home, he wanted her to find his medicine.  He has herpes and hepatitis C and needed his medicine.  She also says that he wanted to see the grandkids.  She tells him that she doesn't want them to come over because she cannot help take care of them.  She wouldn't even be able to change the youngest one's diaper.  She says he called and made the arrangements for them to come over.  *He has also made the decision to have a party at the house that day for Labor Day (this was last year).  She says she didn't want to have one and that he asked her to go to the grocery store with him, and she refused.  Later she says that she went with him.*  He leaves to go get the girls early in the morning.  He comes back home.  Everything seems normal.  S comes into her nana's bedroom to tell her hi.  The party ensues.  It is mostly the defendant's family that comes over.  Around 11 after almost everyone leaves, she begins to help S change into her pajamas in her bathroom.  She says that S starts to cry and tells her about Peepaw touching her (she does not mention the masterbating at this time).  She gets very angry and finds her husband upstairs and tells him that they need to talk.  They go outside.  She says, "She told me what you did."  He throws his hands up and says, "I messed up.  Can we just keep this between ourselves?"  She does not ask him what he thinks she is talking about.  No one asked her if she did either, so that left that up in the air.  She tells us that she gets the youngest girl from her son's room and takes S, little sister, and herself and locks them all in the bedroom.  She doesn't ask him to leave the house.  She couldn't even tell us if he actually stayed at the home that night.  Someone takes the girls home the next day.  Nana does not inform S's parents of what happened that day.  She claims that she was afraid of what her son would do, and she wants to wait until the defendant is out of town to tell him.  She does however tell 3 people.  Her ex husband and two other people.  Fast forward to another day 20 days later.  Nana is getting S ready for bed again.  S tells her about the masturbation.  Nana calls the ex husband.  They make the decision to tell S's dad.  She cannot remember who told him (the ex husband or herself), she cannot remember if the girls were there that day.  She says he is furious.

The second person on the witness stand is Cindy's (Nana) neighbor.  She says yes they did have a party.  She was not there though.  She also says that the day after the party, Cindy comes over and has a conversation with her that makes her feel that she should watch the house (You cannot say what someone else said while on the stand because it is considered hearsay).  Cindy seemed really distraught.  Later that night, Cindy called her and told her something that shocked her, and she understood why she should watch the house.

3 more days to go!

Jury Duty-Day 1

I am going to try to break this down into days.  I just really think that it will help me mentally deal with this jury duty thing.  I had no idea how mentally taxing it would be on me.

9:00- The beginning of the day.  The judge picks names out of a cup to see who will be forced to endure Voir Dire with the attorneys.  This time I am chosen.  I was one of the last 6 chosen.  The assistant DA for the state starts with her questions.  Has anyone ever lied?  Oh let me rephrase that, "Who here has never lied?"  As I look back on it, I wish I would have raised my hand.  One man raised his hand.  He claimed he had never lied because he was afraid God would be angry at him.  Whatever dude!  I am sure at some point in your life you have told someone that you were "fine" when really you weren't.  I also wish that I would have wore a shirt with Bejamin Franklin on the front with a bandana around his mouth, and on the back it would say, "I have the right to bear arms."  I wish I would have worn  a suit.  I wish I would have lied and said I had a couple of doctor's appointments that week.  ANYTHING to get me kicked off the jury!  Anything to not have to deal with all of the mental anguish I have been going through for the past week!

Back to the Voir Dire.  They also inform you a little bit about the trial and ask if you think you will have a problem being on a jury for whatever it is about.  This one trial is the State of Tennessee vs.  FRH.  He is being accused of raping a 6 year old.  They ask us if we will be able to understand that she is 6 and may not be able to remember everything.  That there is no physical evidence in this trial just words.  Will we be able to handle that?  What do we think a child rapist looks like (yes, Misty I will post a picture.)?  Is there anyone there that had experienced something like that personally?  Yadda yadda.  When Voir Dire is over the attorneys begin to make their decisions who to cut.  They start with 40 people.  I did not verbally answer a single question.  They cut and cut and cut.  Then the judge says, "Ok I believe we have our jury."  14 people are chosen for a jury.  12 people will make the decision with 2 alternates incase someone has an emergency.

We all slowly move into the juror's box as we are called into it.  They inform us that we can depart to the juror's room after Mr. Smith checks to make sure it is "ready."  Check to make sure it is ready is the nice way to say, "Check to make sure that there is no one hiding in there."  The elevator that they bring the prisoners up on was right next to that room.  We figured that out on about the 2nd or 3rd day.

We all sat in the jurors' room and got our "Juror" name tags.  Then we eventually got called back into the courtroom.  The judge asks the the assistant DA Ms. Hemenway if she would like to begin her opening arguments.

We listen to her tell us about the case.  I will spare you that information because trust me I am about to tell you all about it.  I will however tell you two things.  1.  The state first tried to charge Ray Harrison with incest, but that was kicked out because they are not blood relatives.   2.  The defendant's attorney tried to say this was just a ploy to get money on the grandmother's part because her and the accused were going through a divorce...more about that later.

The opening arguments are over.  We are sent to lunch.

The first person that they put on the stand is the little girl.  I will not say her full name just because she is only 7, so I will just call her S on here.  If you are just dying to know her real name shoot me a message on Facebook, and I will let you know.

I had no idea that they were actually going to put a 7 year old on the stand!  She walks in, shoots us all a smile.  She is cute as a button.  She is energetic in the witness stand.  She cannot sit still.  The judge asks her a few questions to make sure that she is able to answer questions truthfully.  He decides that she can, and Ms. Hemenway begins to ask her questions.  Before she can really get started, we are sent into the jury room because there are some things that the attorneys need to talk about with the judge that we cannot hear.  This happens constantly the first day.  Ok on to the little girl's story.  ( I will spare you attorney's questions as much as I can.)

S says that her Peepaw picked her up from her parents' house in Murfreesboro in his white car.  She put herself in the carseat.  She did not have any water with her.  She was by herself in the car with him.  A long time after she had left the house at one of the red lights.  He asked her if she needed to pee.  She told him that she did not need to pee.  He told her to get in the front seat, so he could see if she needed to pee.  He moved her flowered shorts to the side and her panties, and he checked to see if she needed to pee.  She says he tickled her with two fingers.  She then says that he took his kidney out (that is her name for a boy's parts) through the small hole in his pants and shook it.  Then white stuff came out.  He tasted it and asked if she wanted to taste it.  He told her it was sweet.  The attorney asks her if it was sweet, and she said, "No, it was sour."  She made a sour face.

When they let her off of the stand, they let us go home for the day, but not before the judge read us the admonishions.  Don't talk about this anywhere.  Discussing it before the jury deliberates would be premature.

Yep

Another fun filled day of jury duty.  I almost fell asleep.  I get so freakin' tired of hearing the same question over and over again.  It isn't over yet.  I have at least one more day if not the rest of the week.  I can't wait for this to be over, so I can tell ya'll what this trial was all about.  UGH!  It is really hard to keep all of this stuff in!

Long Day!

Went to court this morning, since I was called.  Yep, you guessed it.  I am sitting on a f-ing jury.  Oh and it isn't just a day oh no!  It is 3 or 4 days!  This has royally messed up my work schedule PLUS I had to go to jury duty and then work!  Same thing tomorrow.  Then I have people that are coming to help at my store.  Ugh!  LONG DAYS!  Here was my day.  Yep I am going to bore you with it.

I woke up, jumped in the shower, got ready, drove to Murfreesboro, stood in a courtroom because there was nowhere to sit, got my name called to go into the jury pool, sat through voir dire (fancy way of saying jury pickin'), got freakin' chosen, went to lunch, listened to testimony, had an extremely long "15" minute break, an hour and 15 minutes later finally went back into the courtroom, listened to more testimony, got dismissed (all of the above happened between 8 and 5), I went to work, closed my store at 9, and came home.  Yep that was the looooooooong day.

250?! WOW! How many more days until the end of the year?

Duh duh dunnnnnnn....This is post 250!  Crazy!

I was totally exhausted yesterday.  I went to jury duty early yesterday morning.  I did not get picked, but I did go straight to work after.  I worked 10 hours yesterday....or was it 11?  Hmmm.  Either way it was a very long day!  THEN I had to go get my hubby from his sister's house ALL the way out in Springfield.  He took our nephew to the zoo AND gave him his Sophie that he LOVES!  YAY!

I was totally planning on going to work today until I woke up around 11.  I also took into account that I have to work everyday until next Friday without a day off.  I went to the theater instead.  We saw Machete.  We also saw Going the Distance.  Yes, we snuck in to that one of course!  What kind of blog would this be if I wasn't a little daring every now and then!  I totally thought we got caught this time though!  This guy came into count twice.  I thought for sure they were going to ask all of us for our tickets.  There was only like 5 people in there!  Oh how I love going to the theater during the week in the early afternoon.  Oh!  Machete was ehhhh (totally not my idea for a movie), but Going the Distance was pretty good!

We were talking about going to Live on the Green tonight, but we didn't.  Tonic and Five for Fighting were there!  It was free!  It is every Thursday night from now until mid October.  Similar to Dancin' in the District for those of you who partook (?) in that.

We are planning on going to the State Fair tomorrow night.  Jack really wants to go, since it is the last time it will be at the fairgrounds.  They are going to bulldoze that area and put condos and a shopping center there.  Sad right?  Make sure you hit it up!  I just wonder what they are going to do with the flea market after they do that....rrrrrrr

Dear California,
I miss your swapmeets!  I really do!  I wish I could fly there on the weekends just to go to them!  What I don't miss about you is that I could never drive down a road that had no lights around whatsoever.  Last night I was driving to get Jack, and I could have pulled off of the side of the road and turned off my lights to see all of the stars.  I couldn't have done that while I was with you.

I'm tired.  That is all.  Tomorrow.  Promise.  My day has been very long.

Found it!

Here is the post in its entirety.  I thought ya'll would appreciate it (especially my funny husband's input at the time).  I am going to cross off the items I have done!  Some of them are pretty simple, but at the time I had just ditched a boyfriend who wasn't very entertaining (we dated for 4 years)

Well I just finished up my Lesson Plan. You can see it here. I think it is pretty good...

Well it is Thursday!! Tomorrow is Friday....I sing this joyously. I went over to Annie's apartment last night even though I should have been at the library working on my papers.....tonight..definitely tonight. Gotta do it.

This is for Bubba.

It was the first time and it was the smallest, but it was the most interesting thing it was sweet and sour all in one. I'm sorry I threw it in the trash, but it just wasn't that great. I'll give you credit though I was forewarned...LOL.

This is for Jack upon request:

Jack is a really sweet guy. He is not an asshole by far, but can be a smart ass....which can be a good quality and is in him. I enjoy his company. He never fails to make me smile and laugh about something goofy. For example: "Do dogs think dog poo stinks?" "Or do people know that bologna is actually in liquid form before it is made?" These are just some of the random questions I have been asked. They always make me laugh. Oh and I especially loved this one, "I miss my Mustang LOL." That one truly brightened the day. I love the fact that I can daydream about someone while sitting in a boring class or sitting at a stop light. I love the fact that even though I am at work he will still call...that always makes me smile. These two smiley faces always make me think of him LOL.

I would just like to say that this is all still very true!  He is my favorite person.  He always makes me laugh and now we ask each other random questions.  I love to make him laugh even more though because knowing that I can make someone as funny as him laugh makes me feel like a million bucks.  Also, now when he calls me at work I always get the sudden urge to pee.  HA!

At this time I would like to post a few of those before I die items:

::Shuffling papers it is here somewhere...........five minutes later......Here it is..::

1. Go to a restaurant and just eat dessert.

2. Randomly dance with a guy. (I think I failed to mention I didn't dance at my junior or senior prom...pretty sad.)

3. Get Married (yeah I know...duh!)

4. Have kids (another duh)

5. Finish college

6. Become a teacher While I am not actually teaching what I thought I would be teaching, I did get to train people for work.

7. Travel overseas

8. Own a bulldog or a pug

9. Travel to many cities in America

10. Learn to enjoy Shakespeare <-----Ok this will NEVER EVER happen!  I have however come to appreciate Shakespeare and all that he brought the the English language and literature.  If you have never looked up something about "words and phrases that Shakespeare brought into the English language" you should!

11. Take a cruise to see whales <--Damn it!  I was totally going to do that while I was in California!  Did not have time!  It will happen!

12. Take a day trip to an odd place.

13. Perform an anonymous favor

14. Overcome a fear like even though I've been on a cruise I still have that fear of deep ocean. I couldn't imagine getting in water that was super deep and knowing I couldn't swim to the bottom if I wanted too. Scary....

15. Watch the sunrise and sunset with a perfect view.  <----I loved standing on the beach in California and watching the sunset.  Beautiful

16. Watch the changing guard at Buckingham Palace.

17. Visit the tower of London.

18. Visit Machu Picchu

Etc.

Ok so on some of them I get a little elaborate, but a girl can dream can't she?

I will be thinking of items to put on my Bucket List while I am bored waiting to see if I am going to be chosen for the jury tomorrow.

Bucket List...

I will be thinking of things for my bucket list, since Misty says we should make one!  Ok so honestly, I already had one that I made a few years ago of things to do before the age of....  I looked a while back, and I have actually done most of the stuff!  I will see if I can find it, and ya'll can see what I have checked off!

Rrrr!

I totally have to be at the judicial building in Murfreesboro tomorrow morning at 9!  UGH!

Jack convinced me to go downtown tonight.  We were going to go to the Tin Roof to listening to the songwriter night, but we found out when we got there that they had moved it to another venue AND decided to charge to get in.  We left.  I was not going to pay cover anywhere!  It is Tuesday!  Then we went downtown, circled around trying to find a cheap parking spot.  One place wanted 15 bucks.  We finally found a 6 dollar parking.  We walked down Broadway and wound up at Robert's Western Room.  While we were there, our neighbor from across the street sent Jack a text message that he was at Melrose.  We left downtown and headed there.  It was live trivia night tonight.  We got there too late to play, but I will remember that they play there.  I will also have to go play with the Kline girls in Murfreesboro!  Sounds like fun to me!  :)  Now we are back and home and just finished watching the first episode of the season of Sons of Anarchy.  Did I mention Jax is hot?  Yeah, I said it.  He also has an accent in real life.  Yum!  :)  Don't tell my hubby!

Mother Trucker!

First and foremost! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE! WHOOT WHOOT! 25 FOREVER!  P.S.  You might have to click on the photo to see it.  It isn't showing when I view my blog.

As you already know, I had jury duty today. What I didn't know was that this was just orientation! I have to call EVERY DAY until October 1st to find out if I have to be there the next day! WHAT THE HELL!? I could serve on a jury EVERY DAY until the end of the month! I doubt that will happen but still! Oh AND I can't tell ya'll about any of the crazy drama that the court cases are about (I knew this already, but I'm just letting you know. ^u^)
And consider that your forewarning from JDH

I was really planning on going to work after I was finished today, but it just didn't happen. I have no guilt though because I was supposed to get 3 days off this week thanks to Labor Day.

I got my niece/nephew a Sophie from Babies R Us the other day, and THEN we went to Essex today, and I found another one at a much cheaper price! YAY!  They both get one now!  Jack is taking Rio and Jill to the zoo tomorrow, and he is going to give him his then!  YAY!

Labor Day

I hope ya'll did something better than me for Labor Day. I worked my ass off all day. It was one of those days where you drop everything or throw things on accident. My favorite part of the day was when the lady busted an entire gallon of milk out on my front sidewalk. Oh no wait it gets better because I have to clean it up, soooooooo I grab a bucket. The first time getting water wasn't so bad, but the second time I turned the water on too high. If you have ever seen a hose pipe go out of control on a TV show or movie, you can imagine what happened in my stockroom. The hose went everywhere, and I was soaked. I know I sound like I am bitching about my day, BUT I laughed my ass off when that happened! I mean seriously who does that?! ME! :)

Now I am at home dreading jury duty tomorrow morning. BOO!

Day out with Katie

Soo my day was fun filled! Katie and I went to IHOP for breakfast. We both shall plead the fifth on the food options that me made. What happens at IHOP stays at IHOP. We then headed over to the greenway over on Old Fort Parkway. We walked up to the square, checked out the Farmer's Market, and then up to MOAB. I HAD to go see if they had the bike I wanted. They did not, BUT they do carry Electras! They can also get the one I want if and when I decide to fork out the money for that damn thing. When we got back to our beginning point, we both decided it was way too pretty to be inside for the rest of the day, hence our trip to the zoo. Oh by the way I am a member now, so if anyone wants to go let me know because I have a dual membership and can take another person. This trip to the zoo reminds me of the fact that I mysteriously have Mrs. Spann's phone number in my phone. I was trying to call Katie and got Katie instead. If that sounds confusing to you, imagine my surprise when I called the number. Jack was upset that I went to the zoo without him today, but he told me yesterday that he didn't want to go soo no harm done besides I have a membership now anyway. We can go anytime we want no charge! :)

Jack totally wanted to go to see some bands play tonight, but I fell asleep on the couch. The sun got to me (tired and slightly red). I didn't want to go anyway. Oh darn.

Now margaritas with the hubby! Here is the recipe..I got it from the pharmacist at work.

Ed's Margaritas
12oz Tequila
12oz Triple Sec
12oz Frozen Limeade
12oz (get ready for this strange one) beer
12oz water

Mix it all together and chill.

They are very good and pretty damn strong too! :)

Runny nose

Guys, When I get preggers one day, I totally don't want to be one of those people that you look at and can't decide if they are just fat or if they are pregnant. I am blessed being a pear shape, so my stomach is the first thing that loses weight but like right now my boobs are barely past my stomach. I totally need to lose some weight. ugh. I just need some motivation.

My nose is running.

Jack totally wanted to go to Columbus, OH this weekend to see his aunt. She just found out that she has bladder cancer. All day long I didn't know if we were going. I get home, and he says, "We might go later." It is 10 o clock now, so I am going to assume that we are not going. That reminds me. I need to send Katie a text about breakfast/walking in the morning. *Done* I love that she is forcing me to exercise because I totally need it. Anyway now Jack and I will be pushing that OH trip to the future probably 4 weeks from now. We have free places to stay, so I am not really concerned about how much it will cost us. Jack's cousin has a pretty decent size house with extra rooms.

I just had the most hilarious T9 experience. I was sending Katie a text, and I was typing Oooo. Oooo did not come up, but poop did. HA!

I am getting my very first customer complaint. He is an asshole, and I really don't care. My shift supervisors tell me that he comes in all of the time and wants the impossible. I have forewarned the district office, but apparently he calls so much that he is on a frequent caller list. Crazy.

Dear...

Dear Girls who insist on taking pictures of their feet and putting it on Facebook,
Your toes look ugly if you cut your big toenail too short. It looks gross and painful.

Dancin' in September

Everytime I hear that song it reminds me of work. It isn't a bad recollection. It reminds me of when I was still a cashier and racing shopping carts down the aisles on Saturday nights after the pharmacy closed.

I have to drive to freakin Cookeville tomorrow for a freakin' managers' meeting. A whole day that I need to be in my store that I can't be in my store. :( THEN on Tuesday, I have to go to jury duty. EHH! There is another day that I cannot be in my store. What a waste. I hope this does not put me behind. :(

I got to see my super cute nephew today! My mother in law didn't seem to thrilled when we arrived at 9 this morning, but Jack was determined to spend as much time as possible with him. I actually left him at his mom's house, so he could hang with him even longer. Rio loves his uncle Jack. He just laughs and laughs. :)

I got to tell a coupon lady that she could only have 1 Gain today. She "understood" but will obviously be back tomorrow, and she will obviously be very disappointed when there is not any on the shelf because she has come in every day this week to buy some. She will probably ask for a raincheck before it is over with and bitch about how we didn't have any left.

I am tired now, and I feel like I am boring you. Night
